Partial differential equations (PDEs) are used to model applications in a plethora of fields: fluid dynamics, optics, atomic and plasma physics, etc. The study of their mathematical structure and solution methods remains at the forefront of applied mathematics. This seminar focuses on the study of analytical and numerical solution methods for PDEs, the analysis of their solutions and their applications, among other topics.

Boeing Distinguished Colloquia
The Department of Applied Mathematics is pleased to host this series of colloquium lectures, funded in part by a generous gift from the Boeing Company. This series brings to campus prominent applied mathematicians from around the world.
The talks are of general interest to researchers and students in the mathematical sciences and related fields. All are welcome to attend. Talks are on Thursday afternoon at 4pm. Each talk will be followed by a reception.

Data-Driven Methods for Science and Engineering Seminar
The Data-Driven Methods for Science and Engineering Seminar is held every second Friday at 9:00 am PST. The seminar is organized by Joe Bakarji, Jason Bramburger, Henning Lange, and Jordan Snyder, with Steven L. Brunton, J. Nathan Kutz, and Krithika Manohar serving as faculty organizers.
More information is available on the seminar's website. Previous talks can be found on the Physics Informed Machine Learning YouTube channel. To sign up for the seminar mailing list, which sends announcements and abstracts for upcoming talks, fill out this Google form.
Frederic & Julia Wan Lecture Series
The Frederic and Julia Wan Lecture Series is established to honor Frederic and Julia Wan in recognition of their generous contributions and services to the Department of Applied Mathematics. The Lecture Series aims to invite accomplished mathematicians to visit the department over an extended period, roughly a week. A guest lecturer is expected to deliver two or three lectures ranging from technical talks to experts to expository talks to the general public. Additionally, the visitors would actively engage with members of the department or the broader UW community. More information is available on the seminar's website.
Seminar in Applied Mathematics
The department's weekly seminar is held on Thursdays when Boeing Seminars are not scheduled. The department's weekly seminar is given by scholars and researchers working in applied mathematics, broadly interpreted. Seminars are at 4pm on Thursdays, unless otherwise noted.
